The DR Strings booth at NAMM displayed their popular NEON strings on several basses and guitars set against a black backdrop accented with UV lights – what an awesome display! Joining the display this summer in celebration of the Fourth of July, were DR Strings new NEON™ Red, White and Blue color coated guitar and bass string sets. What’s great about these new strings is that in coordination with legendary guitarist and DR Strings’ artist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, 10% of the sales proceeds will benefit the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). In a recent press release, Baxter stated, “The SOWF guarantees a college education and/or support for sons and daughters of Special Forces parents who have fallen in the line of duty.”

Ultimate Ears (UE) had its debut at Summer NAMM 2014 with their complete line of ear monitors--their ever popular universal UE900s along with the custom-fit in-ear monitors (IEM). Their quality product caught the attention of many including Billy Cuthrell, owner of Progressive Music Center in Raleigh, North Carolina and a panelist at the Best in Show event, which is held on the last day of NAMM. The panelists searched the showroom floor for several days looking for new and innovative products. Billy chose the UE900s as his choice for “Best in Show” and said, “They’ve got these great UE 900s. They come in really nice packaging and it’s basically set-up for the retail store, there’s no audiologist involved. You open up the box, and inside they give you every sizing option you could want. Ultimate Ears has figured out a gateway headphone that would lead your customer into doing custom in-ear monitors.”
Summer NAMM in Nashville…what a weekend!  Beginning on Wednesday evening, July 16, 2014 and ending on Saturday, July 19, 2014, The City of Nashville proudly welcomed the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) and all of its industry brethren to its new and beautiful Music City Center with 350,000 square feet of exhibit space…and while I’m not sure how much of that space was swallowed up by our industry’s music exhibitors, it sure seemed like a big chunk was taken by our awesome manufacturers and industry lovers alike. Here’s a quote from an up-and-coming female singer/songwriter, Jenna Paone, when asked about her favorite part of NAMM: ”This is my first NAMM and I love the diversity of the people who come together here and just love music, all kinds of music and all genres…it is so electric!”
