The doors opened to the general admission crowd – Dealers, Musicians, and other professionals in the music industry, with most arriving early for an 8:00 “Breakfast of Champions” featuring Joe Lamond President, CEO of NAMM who conducted a series of one:one panel interviews with legends of the music world discussing trends and developments including the comeback of the synthesizer, accessories, and women in music including one of our favorite artists Colbie Caillat.

The doors to the exhibit hall opened promptly at 10:00AM and the crowd was robust, piling into the hall and B-lining straight to their favorite musical instrument manufacturer’s booths to kick off their show.
The day was full of introductions to new products and interviews with manufacturers about their latest innovations…and innovative they are, and with some interesting people who have been influential such as Jim Crockett (with his daughter Dara) author of Guitar Player: The Inside Story of the First Two Decades of the Most Successful Guitar Magazine Ever! We had a great interview with Jim and Darah at The Hal Leonard booth and Jim comes across as a man of humble beginnings who was out of work and broke when he happened upon the newspaper advertisement for a job with Guitar Player launching a 20 year catapult into rock music documentary history.

Whle at the Hal Leonard booth, we were updated on new products and books for 2015, including the new and improved ChordBuddy Guitar Method songbooks allowing students to learn more songs. ChordBuddy is a unique add-on device that attaches to the fretboard of an acoustic or electric guitar to teach beginning guitarists chords and within several weeks they will be playing the guitar.
Technology was king as was learning and knowledge based products such as the jamstik by ZIVIX Music & Technologies, an electronic fret board complete with strings and powered by bluetooth technology to enable the guitar enthusiast to practice and play anywhere, with no tuning required, bundled with their JamTutor App showing finger positions on screen, and much more with wireless connectivity www.jamstick.com
Another great innovation we came across was by GTC Sounds Innovation, the REVPAD, the world’s first wireless touchpad effects controller and ultra-dynamic sound processor that turns any guitar into a smart guitar.” www.gtcsound.com.
Cruising the floors of this dynamic music show we stopped by the B.C. Rich Guitars booth where we enjoyed previewing their familiar shaped line of guitars including the Warlock model played by Lita Ford and learning about their acoustic line which is now being re-introduced for 2015. These acoustics return to B.C. Rich’s roots and touch on the original designs of Bernie Rico while offering high quality woods, innovation, and great playability all for under $500!
After B.C. Rich and Michael Kelly Gutiars, we headed to the Martin Guitars booth where we met C.F. Martin, IV and saw some of their gorgeous acoustics and talked about their top-of-the-line guitar strings to accompany their fine line of musical instruments. We were shown the D-35 Brazilian 50th Anniversary Limited Edition which is celebrating their 50th year anniversary.

Accessories were a plenty with everything from wood picks by Timbertone, all sorts of guitar straps by LM Products, Get ‘Em Get ‘Em, Levy’s Leathers and many others, and Pickbandz general accessories. We stopped by the Hohner booth and learned about an array of new products they have introduced including many instruments designed for young children to get them interested in music early including their new “Tagged” series harmonicas and the Airboard, a 25 note key board that includes a songbook and a padded carry case.
