In just a few short days, what is touted as the world’s leading music industry event, South by Southwest (SXSW) Music and Media Conference, will open its doors at the Austin Convention Center from March 11 through March 16.

Music industry professionals, musical instrument manufacturers, consumers, musicians and fans will converge on downtown Austin. Music will fill the air as 2,200+ musicians from around the world will be performing on stages at the SXSW Music Festival and at various bars and venues throughout the City. Attendees at the conference can attend mentoring sessions and panels on topics relating to the music industry ranging from legal issues, entertainment deals, publicity, media, marketing, song writing and more. Of particular interest to Guitar Girl Magazine is a panel titled “Women Who Conquered the Music Business” where attendees will hear from Presenters Julie Pilat (Beats Music), Karen Kwak (The Island Def Jam Music Group), Lisa Worden (KROQ), Michelle Harrison (Monotone, Inc.), and Sharon Dastur (OurStage). These women will share their valuable knowledge and experience as successful women executives working in the music industry today. Another panel of interest is “Fashion + Rock n Roll: A Timeless Bond” which is being conducted by Stephen Niedzwiecki, Founder & Chief Creative Officer YARD , Bruce Flohr, Manager, Red Light Management, Micah Nelson, Danny Clinch, Photographer/Filmmaker. They will discuss how music and fashion coincide with each other and how fashion brands and musicians can partner together.

The SXSW Trade Show will be open for four days and exhibitors include tech companies, media, venture capital firms, musical instrument companies, as well as other companies involved in the music industry.
