The Whiskey Gentry, ZZ Ward & Nikki Lane Take to the Stages at the 2015 Shaky Knees Music Festival

A hot Atlanta weekend in May was the setting to hear wonderful music from a variety of genres. This year’s Shaky Knees Festival did it right with a perfect mix of local, hometown artists as well as those from across the US and even some international bands to complete their lineup. Some of these artists included The Whiskey Gentry, ZZ Ward, and Nikki Lane. These truly talented individuals rocked the stages at Shaky Knees and were greeted with great rounds of applause with crowd members singing and dancing in the aisles.

Local Atlanta band The Whiskey Gentry took to the stage ready to get the crowd moving with their high energy, hand-clapping, toe-tapping, sing-along, bluegrass tunes. They even had a teenage family member join them on stage which the crowd fell in love with. The atmosphere was energetic and it did not matter that it was hot and muggy in Atlanta; their energy seemed like it was cool and collected while on stage. In the midst of the midafternoon heat, the crowd was dancing and having a great time, and yearned for more after they left the stage. The Whiskey Gentry was definitely a crowd pleaser.

American singer-songwriter ZZ Ward wowed the crowd at Shaky Knees. From beginning to end, she performed with cheers from the crowd. ZZ Ward is one of the newer artists that is taking the music scene by storm and enjoying every minute of it. She performed in 2014 at Coachella, Bonnaroo, and even a short stint with Eric Clapton.  As she played through the evening, the crowd grew and grew and the audience seemed to genuinely appreciate her music. When looking for a band to get one’s groove on, ZZ Ward can bring it. She’s a wonderful musician and great live performer, proven at Shaky Knees.

Another great performance was given by the self-proclaimed highway queen Nikki Lane. Adorned in a retro jumpsuit romper, a throwback to the ‘50s, she had the crowd cheering and singing along with her music. During her performance, she invited her mother up on the stage to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day which was such a sweet gesture. Watching a performance that is fun and full of energy is always spectacular and I’m sure she has quite a few more fans from Shaky Knees.

All three were awesome.  Like I’ve said before, Shaky Knees has made its mark in Atlanta and will be one of the annual music festivals to attend. The line-up is diverse and has something for everyone to enjoy.
