Valeria Castro Presents “La Soledad”

Macarena García, Bárbara Lennie, Sara Carbonero, and Olivia Molina are among the inspiring women featured in the video

[Miami, FL – November 28, 2024] – Loneliness is a feeling full of thorns—a taboo subject, complex and dark, yet also one that can be viewed with light, irony, or tenderness. Valeria Castro captures this perspective in “La Soledad,” the first preview from her upcoming album, produced by Carles Campi Campón. Directed by Joana Colomar, the music video features renowned actresses and creators like Bárbara Lennie, Irene Escolar, Olivia Molina, and Macarena García, as well as other women. Together, they join the artist in a luminous portrayal of solitude.

Valeria wrote this song in the emotional limbo that often follows a tour, while in Madrid, far from her native home of La Palma—a place she dedicated her previous album to. Reflecting on the many forms of loneliness surrounding us, particularly the solitude artists face during their introspective search for inspiration, she crafted a unique perspective.

The line “Cuánto me va a querer la soledad pa no soltarme” / “How much must solitude love me to never let go?” became the cornerstone that enabled her to approach the topic without fear or guilt. She offers a fresh, gentle viewpoint, embracing solitude with curiosity to understand it. The song opens emotional windows, inviting listeners to see solitude not just as isolation but as freedom and personal growth—a profound dialogue with one’s inner self.

The track’s sound bridges tradition and modernity, enhancing its message and making Valeria’s voice shine even brighter. It exudes warmth and tenderness without descending into excessive melancholy. Recorded in Madrid and Mexico City with contributions from fourteen musicians, the song features Iberian percussion, strings, clarinets, guitars, synthesizers, and Mexican-inspired samples. Producer Carles Campi explains that they played with contrasts and polyrhythms while maintaining a cohesive sound, highlighting solitude’s ability to heighten our senses and deepen our perception of life’s nuances.

This new single builds a bridge between her previous album and the upcoming one. While “Con cariño y con cuidado” (2023) explored her external roots, “La Soledad” delves into her purest intimacy to project it outward. This song is the first piece of an emotional puzzle connecting with our most dormant feelings, reminding us of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s “The Little Prince” phrase: “What is essential is invisible to the eye.”

The music video: shared solitude among a circle of women creators

Alongside the song’s release, Valeria also presented the music video directed by Joana Colomar. This beautiful visual piece features Bárbara Lennie, Zoe Bonafonte, Elia Sanmartín, Irene Escolar, Sara Carbonero, Elena Martínez, Lucía Romero, Mariana Salazar, Macarena García, Itsaso Arana, Claudia Traisac, Olivia Molina, and Valeria herself.

Colomar describes “La Soledad” as “a song that moves you with its simple complexity. It’s so beautiful that it makes you feel alive, both in joy and pain. Despite its theme, Valeria daringly brings lightness and irony.” In the video, she portrays a woman living, walking, and being physically alone, represented by different women embodying various facets of herself. Like the ribs of a fan folding into one timeless image, these women represent different stages of life—sometimes a child, sometimes insecure, empowered, or wise. This portrayal reminds us that we are never truly alone; within us reside all the women we have been, are, and will become.

A message of sisterhood, of women sharing life, a song of empowerment. LA SOLEDAD  is written in the feminine.
