Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
If you’re a bit of Potterhead or just want to experience the magic one more time, then you should definitely go and see the latest installment of JK Rowling’s Wizarding World saga, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Shown in the legendary Palace Theatre, this show will keep you hooked throughout both parts as you follow Harry Potter’s son on his own journey through Hogwarts. Full of laughs and a few dark, emotional scenes, this one is definitely worth heading down to the West End for.
All About Eve
All Above Eve, a stage adaptation of Mankiewicz’s seminal 1950 film of the same name, is the show you need to see if you’re big on your satire. Renowned actresses Lily James and Gillian Anderson take on the roles of feuding fictional actresses Better Davis and Anne Baxter, and they really do bring the house down with their performances.
The Price
The Price is right for you if you love a bit of sibling rivalry. This is a show about two estranged New York brothers who come together after 16 years of separation, and it is laden with drama from start to finish. Starring two heavyweights of the stage, David Suchet and Brendan Coyle, and after having received rave reviews during its initial 2018 summer run, this could very well be the show to steal the West End spotlight when it returns to Wyndham’s Theatre in early 2019.
Awful Auntie
Established British comedic actor and talent show judge, David Walliams, really has come into his own as a writer of child fiction. One of his best pieces, Awful Auntie, has made its way onto the stage, and can be enjoyed by both you and your children alike at the Bloomsbury Theatre. As this is only running until January 6, 2019, however, you’re going to have to act quickly if you want to see and experience this one — you can find cheap London theatre tickets for Awful Auntie at Encore Tickets.
Richard II
Richard II really is a West End game changer. A cast solely compromised of women of color, directed by the incredibly talented Adjoa Andoh and Lynette Linton, this story explores different ideas of Britishness. This could be the perfect play to see if you want to brush up on UK politics and get yourself ready for Brexit!
Any one of the five incredible shows listed above will bring your next West End trip to life, there’s no denying that.
