Performing as The Still Tide, Denver-based musician Anna Morsett, recently announced her new EP, Between Skies, due out on January 17, 2020 via Mod y Vi Records. Morsett (The Still Tide) previously released her single “Change of Address,” and is now following that up with her new single and music video for “On The Line,” premiering exclusively on Guitar Girl Magazine.
Morsett’s music is influenced by much of her surrounding in the Pacific Northwest, where she grew up and from traveling as a guitar tech for artists including Kaki King, Tallest Man on Earth and Devil Makes Three. Her powerhouse performances have seen her grace the stage with Cat Power, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and Margaret Glaspy, and recently wrapped up her fall tour, including several dates with Charlie Cunningham. Featured on Morsett’s upcoming new album are incredible vocals, filled with delicate guitars and bass on her ambitious seven song collection. The EP was mixed by Brian Joseph (Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens) and produced by Morsett, and long time collaborator Joe Richmond.
Morsett shares that “the phrase “on the line” was such a perfect fit for how I wanted to capture both the act of actually being on the phone with someone and also the act of putting yourself out there – of putting your heart on the line in the hope for love…”On The Line” spilled out of me within a few short days in the middle of what felt like a long and dark winter. I’d been on tour all fall and feeling the weight of wildly different time zones and literal distance tugging at my – already, at the time – long distance relationship. I was thinking about how much of that relationship, because of the distance and travel, HAD to take place over the phone. How it grew in those late night or early morning calls and how happily exhausted we both must have been in our separate cities, in our different days, because of it. I thought about how powerful falling in love itself can be and how it can overpower your need for sleep – how we all willfully keep ourselves awake just to stay on the line with a new love.”
