Summer NAMM had a lot to offer this year. We would like to take a moment to share our favorite picks:

Marc’s Favorites

Peterson Strobe Clip HD Tuner

Peterson Strobe Tuners Summer NAMM 2017This versatile headstock tuner offers the accuracy of the full-sized Peterson strobe tuners in a compact package. High definition display, wide viewing design, adjustable HZ calibration, over 50 preset tunings, as well as drop tuning and capo settings. This tuner works great on my bass in drop D and detuned tunings, both of which have given me problems with many other headstock tuners. See the Strobe Clip HD and full line of products at petersontuners.com.

Bullhead Amplifiers

Bullhead Scorpio ampScott VanFossen is the genius behind Bullhead Amplification. These high-quality amplifiers perform at all levels. All tube circuitry, hand tested components with high tolerances, and attention to detail due to low build volumes. My favorite is the Scorpio, designed for guitarist JC Clifford. Offered in 20w or 40w, the Scorpio delivers smooth clean tones and thick, searing rhythm and lead tones. Scott is also able to custom build the perfect amplifier for your needs. Info on the Scorpio and other Bullhead products can be found at bullheadamplification.com

KBrakes

KBrakes Grips

KBrakes are grips that will keep your drums and stands from sliding, creeping and moving forward as you play. Founder and drummer Wes Keely has solved this problem that drummers have been fighting for years. Kbrakes are available for your drums and hardware stands, will fit any make and the grips come in a variety of colors. Learn more about Kbrakes at kbrakes.com.

We were also lucky enough to see some great music while we were there.

Tristan McIntosh at Epiphone Party - SummerNAMM2017
Tristan McIntosh at Epiphone Party – SummerNAMM2017

One of the highlights was Tristan McIntosh at the Epiphone Guitar party at the Hard Rock. Tristan was a former contestant on American idol and was the highlight of the night. Her band rocked and her vocals were unbelievable, reminding me of ‘70s Linda Ronstadt. I really look forward to hearing more from her.

We also got to see Greg Mangus and Kenny Olson at Soulshine. Greg can sing AC/DC with ease throwing in some Rob Halford screams to keep you on your toes. Kenny’s guitar playing killed and made for a great night of classic rock n roll, bringing our time in Nashville to a perfect close.
