Lola Kristine Unveils Music Video for “Just Friends”

Laguna Beach, California-based singer-songwriter Lola Kristine releases her new music video, “Just Friends,” a track lifted from her latest EP, chapter two: when things fall apart, the second installment of her CHAPTERS project, set for release in 2024.

Made up of five chapters, CHAPTERS chronicles the various aspects of Kristine’s journey to redemption through haunting lyrics and moving melodies that capture the essence of humanity’s spiritual strength and the power of love in all circumstances.

“Just Friends,” explores the sensation of regret and unrequited love for another person after the collapse of a relationship.

Co-written and co-produced by Lola Kristine and Justin Busch, “Just Friends” was mixed by Tyler Norris and mastered by Duncan Ferguson.

Known as “the little girl with the big voice,” Kristine has toured with Premik Russell Tubbs, Jeff Haynes, and bass virtuoso Michael Manring, and collaborated with artists around the globe, including Uganda’s Kinobe in a series sponsored by American Voices.

In 2017, she dropped her debut EP, Extended Play, garnering acclaim from media outlets, airplay, and inclusion on high-flying Spotify playlists.

In 2022, a live video of Lola performing went viral on TikTok, amassing 4.5 million views. With recognition from stars like Mick Fleetwood, Don Cromwell of Air Supply, and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, Kristine’s magical vocals and music mesmerize listeners.

Opening on a bluesy piano, “Just Friends” flows into a low-slung finessed rhythm featuring a fat, eloquent bassline, while the jazz-tinted melody is decorated with shimmering guitar accents. Kristine’s evocative vocals, vaguely reminiscent of Julia Fordham, imbue the lyrics with deliciously alluring tones, at once smooth and nuanced with vibrant colors.

Highlighted by the luscious voice of Lola Kristine under exquisite lilting control, “Just Friends” provides an enchanting audio-visual experience.
