Singer-songwriter Madelyn Rose presents her latest EP, Cowboys, showcasing her supple voice as well as an evocative perspective on self-discovery, grit, heartbreak, and love. Cowboys follows Rose’s 2023 EP, Teenage Heartache, featuring “Sober.”
Rose shares, “I’m so excited to be releasing my second EP ‘Cowboys!’ With a mix of twang and attitude that captures the feelings of new love, this project is something I’m so thrilled for everyone to hear.”
Recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium and released via Vere Music, the label piloted by Rusty Harmon, former manager of Hootie & The Blowfish, Cowboys merges classic country flavors with hints of modern country music, giving it a contagious duality of emotional aspects.
Rose began playing music at the age of four. Later, during the pandemic she developed her songwriting craft while learning the ins and outs of recording, mixing, and mastering in her bedroom. She elevated her music through collaborating with Nashville songwriters, followed by recording in Music City.
Embracing three tracks, the EP opens with the title track, a personal favorite because of its delicious melodic sway topped by Rose’s twangy vocals, conjuring up suggestions of the zesty timbres of Shania Twain.
Riding a tight, pushing rhythm, “Save It” reveals a femme fatale swagger as Rose expresses her true feelings to an ex, telling him to “save it for someone else.” She’s fed up with his shallow, superficial soft soap.
Darker and more voluptuously urgent, “Guess” surges with mysterious energy, highlighted by the rippling bray of an organ as Rose struts the potency of her mobile voice, narrating how to win her affections – “Guess what I like / What I want / What I’m gonna do next.”
On her second EP, country singer Madelyn Rose unsheathes her sumptuous voice, ranging from the thrill of love to a cheeky attitude.
