Rebekah Snyder Releases Holiday Single “Up on the Housetop”

Alt-country/Americana singer-songwriter Rebekah Snyder puts a polish on the holiday season with her new single, “Up on the Housetop,” a contemporary country interpretation of the song written by Benjamin R. Hanby.

The song came together over Thanksgiving, when Snyder was in Nashville working with producer Dean Miller on her forthcoming long player. Snyder had her three children with her and decided to record a Christmas song with them.

Snyder explains, “I wanted to pick something the kids genuinely love. My son Thomas performed ‘Up on the Housetop’ at his second-grade Christmas pageant last year, and he knew every word. It felt like the perfect fit.”

Snyder’s youngest boy and daughter each sing a line in the song, while her middle son provides the percussive ‘clicks.’ All three children combine their voices with the voice of their mother on the chorus: “ho ho ho.”

“Up on the Housetop” follows on the heels of Snyder’s hit single, “Don’t Ever Date A Yankee,” featuring Adam Cunningham, which has amassed more than 190,000 streams on Spotify alone.

Snyder and her family have overcome many challenges through sheer resilience. Thus, this recording of “Up on the Housetop” represents much more than simply recording a song. It’s a salute to family, happiness, and the warm expectancy of the holidays.

“Up on the Housetop” opens on glittering, upbeat guitars, a sawing fiddle, and the drawling tones of a steel guitar. The melody brims with buoyant colors and joyful tones. The yodeling section sets the song on fire, conjuring up memories of Dolly Parton. Snyder’s children perform with youthful style, adding their enthusiastic voices to the sonic mixture.

On “Up on the Housetop,” Rebekah Snyder and family offer a musical jewel for the holidays – full of charm and flashes of energy.
