Amanda Page Cornett has never been one for boundaries, and she proves it on her latest single, “Throw A Lil’ Gas,” available TODAY. Her use of biting guitar solos, angry vocals, and folksy songwriting proudly boast the niche she’s created for herself – an angelic mix of blues, rock, and soul. Recorded in the iconic Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, Cornett surrounded herself with the best – including Spooner Oldham on keys (Percy Sledge, Aretha Franklin) and engineer Jimmy Nutt (Jason Isbell, Alabama Shakes). Be sure to listen to “Throw A Lil’ Gas” on all streaming platforms.
Cornett tells us, “Steve Goodie, known as a comedian, songwriter & Bluebird Café host, and I got together to write at my house. I had just gotten my Elvis pink (antique Rose) electric Fender. He picked it up and started noodling a bluesy rock tune with a sultry vibe. I just started singing along and somehow the sassy lyric hit: “Throw a Lil Gas on this old flame”.”
