Yo La Tengo’s Ira Kaplan, Marisa Anderson and William Tyler announce In Conversation event hosted by Supersonic Festival

Following the release of their debut collaborative album Lost Futures this August, luminary guitarists Marisa Anderson and William Tyler have announced a Bandcamp livestream event for October 7th with Yo La Tengo’s Ira Kaplan, hosted by Supersonic Festival as part of their Supersonic Talks series. The event will feature a live conversation between the three luminary guitarists exploring their unique approaches to composition, their instruments, and influences. The talk will be followed by performances by Anderson and Tyler of tracks from Lost Futures, shot by Portland filmmaker Kai Tillman and Storytank Media.

Anderson and Tyler will be touring the U.S this fall, including dates with Emmylou Harris. Ahead of the tour and the Bandcamp live event the duo have shared a teaser video of them performing Lost Futures track “Haunted by Water”, filmed at Mississippi Studios in Portland.

Marisa Anderson and William Tyler distill deeply rooted and varied traditions into distinctive voices all their own. Anderson and Tyler are each unyielding in their desire to extend through those traditions and the confines of “guitar music” to craft music at once intimate and expansive, conversational and transcendent. The duo’s debut collaborative album tethers together their singular voices into unified narratives that glisten, drive, and sway. On Lost Futures, Anderson and Tyler’s guitars dance through lush arrangements and pastoral duets serpentine and reverent.
