CMA Emerging Artist Lockwood Barr will be performing at the 17th annual Jed Foundation (JED) Gala in New York City on Monday, June 4.
JED is a leading non-profit foundation working to protect emotional health and prevent suicide for teens and young adults. The event is hosted by Emmy Award-winning producer, actor, writer, and comedian Larry Wilmore. The gala is in honor and celebration of organizations and individuals who use their voices, talents, and resources to prevent the devastating impact of emotional distress, mental illness, and suicide for our nation’s young people.
JED partners with high schools and colleges to strengthen their mental health, substance abuse and suicide prevention programs and systems. The foundation encourages community awareness, understanding, and action for young adult mental health.
Lockwood has been a longtime advocate for suicide prevention. She and numerous others have petitioned for a preventative suicide barrier along the Golden Gate Bridge after a friend’s death. This spring their hard work paid off, plans for a $200 million suicide barrier were approved and are due for completion in 2021.
The JED Gala will be held at Cipriani Wall Street, 55 Wall Street, New York, NY beginning at 6:30 PM. To purchase tickets or donate, click here.
