LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA has returned to introduce the newest installment of his Hamildrop series, “Helpless” starring Warner Bros. Records recording artists, The Regrettes. Download/stream the newest addition to the series here. “Helpless” was produced by Mike Elizondo (Eminem, Gary Clark Jr, Mastodon) and recorded at Cam Am Studios in Los Angeles.

The beloved L.A.-based band has teamed up with the Hamilton creator to produce another magical collaboration just in time for the summer. “I love love love Hamilton! I spent weeks after seeing it constantly listening to the soundtrack and ‘Helpless’ was the song that really stood out to me. When I found out we were going to do Hamildrops, I knew we had to record ‘Helpless’,” says The Regrettes frontwoman Lydia Night.

The Regrettes are on tour now, including stops at this year’s top festivals such as Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, Firefly Music Festival, Readings & Leeds, and most recently, Coachella this past April. If you’ve yet to catch them live, brace yourselves to witness the future of feminist, modern, melodic rock that blends brains, attitude with an authentic style and a razor-sharp lyrical perspective:

“Their music sounds like a lively blend of lo-fi surf rock meets The Strokes with a strong female lead—a combination sought by many but well executed by few.” –Vogue

“Their sound is reminiscent of punk acts that made waves decades prior, but Night’s insight offers listeners a fresh, in-the-moment resurgence of feminist angst.” — Nylon

Since the end of last year, Miranda has been introducing new Hamilton related content every month. “Ben Franklin’s Song” with The Decemberists which was released in December served as our introduction to the series. Then came “Wrote My Out” starring Nas, Dave East, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Aloe Blacc in January with a remix shortly after, followed by “The Hamilton Polka” by “Weird Al” Yankovic in February. In March, it was the March For Our Lives inspired theatre mashup, “Found/Tonight” by Miranda and Ben Platt which they went on to perform live at the March For Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C. Released in April, “First Burn” serves as the latest Hamildrop.

SOME REQUIRED READING ON THE HAMILTON MIXTAPE & NEW HAMILTON MUSIC:

December 2016 we released The Hamilton Mixtape. It was the culmination of so many dreams come true. Every artist, every interpretation represented the original impulse I had for this story, even before this thing was a musical.

I know I promised you a Hamilton Mixtape Vol. 2, but nothing’s gonna match those songs in that order, beautifully sequenced by J.Period, at that moment in December 2016.

ALL THAT BEING SAID…

I STILL HAVE ALL THIS DOPE NEW SH*T TO SHARE WITH YOU.

So, we begin THE HAMILDROPS. We’re dropping some new Hamilton content, every month, through December 2018. Something new, every month.

Siempre,
Lin-Manuel
