As we close out 2022 and ring in the new year, it is with regret that I announce that we will be pausing our print/digital magazine until further notice. Unfortunately, we are not immune to the economic pressures and labor shortages many companies feel today. However, we encourage you to stay up to date on our ezine, which will still deliver the latest in music industry news, artist interviews, and our relentless commitment to encouraging, inspiring, and empowering aspiring artists worldwide.
So for our last print/digital edition, we bring you the extremely talented guitarist Gretchen Menn. Our contributor Caroline Paone says it best: “Menn plays in the all-female tribute band Zepparella but is also a classically trained musician with a beautiful soul that permeates her music and performances. Like the lyrics in “Tangerine” (Led Zeppelin), she’s a “living reflection from a dream,” whether it’s her solo work or capturing the essence of Jimmy Page’s mastery.”
This edition also features other masterful players like Ruthie Foster, Dana Fuchs, the folk/bluegrass duo of Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, Jackson Guitars’ artists Vixen and Alyssa Day on metal music, Southern sister rockers Larkin Poe, and breakout country artist Callista Clark. We learn more about Mary eL and Liso Lee in our Take Five features, while Xtine Reckless and Sybil Grace talk tone and more.
As I reflect on the print magazine we started in 2018, we have produced 22 amazing issues and two special editions focusing on female and non-binary artists of color. I recall how great it felt when our debut edition arrived, featuring the MonaLisa Twins on the cover and inside interviews of Tish Ciravolo (Daisy Rock Guitars) and Laura B. Whitmore (Women’s International Music Network). Since that time, we have featured hundreds of artists, including Lisa Loeb, Jackie Venson, Lindsay Ell, Orianthi, Gretchen Menn, Larkin Poe, Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, Grace VanderWaal, Suzi Quatro, Nik West, the Iron Maidens, Lzzy Hale, Nancy Wilson, Lari Basilio, Celisse, Maddie Poppe, Carly Pearce, and so many more!
Besides interviews, we offered lessons, tips, and lots of fun stuff. So please check out all of our editions on our website at guitargirlmag.com/issues/magazine.
A big shout out and thank you to all of our contributing editors throughout the years and to our fans for their continued support!
