Denim for Every Rocker

Each musical genre seems to have its own personal style.  Regardless of which one you prefer to listen to or practice, they all have one fashion item in common…denim.  This versatile closet staple is popping up everywhere from fabric use, color, and silhouette…and I’m not just talking about jeans.  Check out how denim proves itself to be the ultimate fashion piece to wear, whether it’s country chic or edgy rock ‘n’ roll.

Country Chic

Denim has always been the go-to wardrobe item for country musicians, sometimes even being covered from head-to-toe.  A great pair of jeans is a perfect place to start.  Boot-cut or straight-leg styles are the most popular for this genre.  Denim also prevails in sweet jackets, worn-in button downs, or cute skirts and jumpers.  Eyelet lace trim or floral details solidify this country style.

Hipster/New Age

Hipster style is a bit more modern and contemporary.  Followers go for skinny-leg jean styles, but branch out into the realm of colored denim.  This instantly updates your look and gives a new perspective on the typical blue-jean pant.  Denim is also found on other trendy items such as sneakers, hats, or even cool fitted blazers.

Hippie/Boho

Like other styles, hippie denim pieces are unique in their genre.  Jeans are tailored with high-waists and oversized bell-bottom hems.  Even patchwork and interesting embroidery make for copasetic hippie fashion.  Other trends include denim handbags and totes, accessories, or even retro inspired dresses.  Wearers get extra points if their denim is truly “vintage”.

Edgy Rock n’ Roll

Rock n’ roll denim is the most destroyed, altered, but still innovative.  Typical pieces are traditionally ripped, dyed, safety-pinned, or decked out in studded details.  Think cut-off shorts, boyfriend-style jeans, or killer jackets.  If you’re feeling extra creative, try cutting off the sleeves of your favorite jacket for a fabulous D.I.Y. rockstar vest.

No other fabrication can be traced across decades and types of music more than denim.  This multi-use item of choice is easily accessible and can be paired perfectly with almost everything in your closet.  Depending on your mood, you can change your denim-attitude to represent your own rocker style.
