It’s that time of year again. The time where brands and musicians alike, are combining forces to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Earth Day is right around the corner, and it’s easier than ever to celebrate and support efforts to love our planet. Guitar Girl Magazine has found exciting collaborations and unique accessories dedicated to eco-friendly initiatives.
Musicians Who Care:
Long-time eco-activist and acclaimed artist, Alanis Morissette, has partnered with prestigious beauty brand Kiehl’s Since 1851. Just in time for Earth Day, Morissette has designed a Limited Edition label for Kiehl’s 4.2 oz Ultra Facial Cream. The label is a creative endeavor for this talented musician, where she depicts her own interpretation of social responsibility.
Morissette goes into more detail about her inspiration for the project and describes why she feels so passionate about helping the environment in her personal video message. The Limited Edition Facial Cream is available for purchase right now!100% of the net proceeds of this series will benefit Recycle Across America™ (RAA), and through this program, Kiehl’s will be donating $50,000 to the organization. Funds raised from these labels will be used to create 65,000 standardized recycling labels, which will be donated to K-12 schools nationwide.”
Recycled Accessories:
It’s no surprise that guitar girls love their accessories, but what if you could wear a stunning piece of jewelry that was crafted from a recycled guitar string? That’s exactly what you get with ReStrung by NOLA Design Studio. This line of ultra-chic hand-made jewelry uses a combination of recycled strings, semi-precious stones, vintage jewelry pieces, and other metals. Not only does each piece look amazing and one-of-kind, but 5% of all profits help support the New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation, aiding The New Orleans Musicians Clinic. ReStrung’s designer Naomi Celestin starts the process by collecting, cleaning, and polishing donated guitar strings. She then searches local vendors, flea markets, and fair-trade international manufacturers for just the right selection of turquoise, pearls, and glittering stones. ReStrung not only provides contemporary accessories for purchase, but also specializes in bridal collections and commissioned pieces. Check out their stellar assortment available online
