Anastasia Elliot’s approach to writing melodies is heavily influenced by an upbringing steeped in classical music, operatic vocal training, and classical piano. Today, Anastasia debuts her single “Cigarettes and Gasoline.” Co-produced by Anastasia and Cody Tarpley (Krewella, Zhavia Ward, Lennon Stella), the song evokes imagery of star-crossed lovers, destined to be one another’s demise. The poetic release serves as an introduction to the magical world that Anastasia has constructed. Listen to “Cigarettes and Gasoline” here: https://on.cmdshft.com/CigsGas
“I’m so happy to finally be sharing my music,” says Anastasia. “I’ve been holding onto this piece of myself for so long and I am so happy to finally be able to share it with the world.”
In tandem with the single, Anastasia has released the official music video for “Cigarettes and Gasoline.” The video provides a glimpse into Anastasia’s dark and fantastical universe, following her as a femme fatale who repeatedly brings an end to her man(nequin). Various scenarios play out in catastrophe, leaving the pair in a literal and figurative smoldering mess. This marks the first of many ‘deaths’ in her music and visual project, a reoccurring thread which will play a part in her story of love, life, and loss. The intriguing piece is just a taste of what is to come from the multi-talented performer.
Anastasia Elliot’s forthcoming epic and surreal debut spirals into the depths of insanity and beauty as it confronts the experience of trauma. At the heart of the singer-songwriter’s appeal is her raw and exposed voice, which is at its most alluring when it soars above the pummeling pop-rock soundscapes that are dressed in symphonic touches.
