January 24, 2020 – Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Chelsea Williams returns with her first single of the year, “Red Flag,” from her forthcoming studio album on Blue Élan Records. With one marvelously executed run up the scales, the Americana-pop tune perfectly evokes the breathless, caution-to-the-wind intensity of new love’s passion. Showcasing her infectious vocals, “Red Flag” is a testament to Williams’ knack for creating catchy pop songs tinged with a hint of country.

“It’s a really fun song about falling head over heels for someone, but being a little bit afraid of falling too fast,” explains Williams. “Red Flag” was co-written with Julian Bunetta, Toby Gad, and John Henry Ryan, recorded with multi-instrumentalist and producer Ross Garren (Ben Folds, Bon Iver), and mixed by the acclaimed Dave Way (Phoebe Bridgers, Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow). The song is currently available on all streaming platforms.
Williams released her last full-length album, Boomerang, in 2017, which led to Rolling Stone Country naming her one of the “Top 10 New Country Artists You Need to Know,” in addition to earning a win for Singer-Songwriter of the Year from the Hollywood in Music and Media Awards.
Throughout 2019, Williams released a string of five stripped-down, acoustic covers as part of her Mockingbird Mixtape EP, including a diverse set of songs ranging from Willie Nelson’s “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground” to Neutral Milk Hotel’s “Two-Headed Boy.” Her cover of Jackson Browne’s “These Days” was accompanied by a stunning video shot in the Angeles National Forest. Williams also released a rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “Christmas Waltz”, which was featured on Spotify’s New Music Holiday playlist to much acclaim.
