“$hiny Things” is filled with retro 00’s elements, mixed with a breezy guitar and harmonies remnant of your favourite pop superstars. While accented with nostalgic flare, the track experiments with modern elements keeping it fresh.
Behind it’s sparkle lies a deeper message. Dasha explains, “This song is all about confidence in the person you’re with and within yourself. The “shiny things” are everything that other people have that you don’t. Instead of letting that lead to insecurities, you gotta focus on all the shiny things that you have that others don’t.”
DASHA’s confidence in herself and artistry pays off. After being selected by SONY in a song and artist competition held in Nashville, the California native got the chance of a lifetime. Signing with SONY Germany/ FAMOUZ Records for a single deal, DASHA released the catchy and confident track “Don’t Mean A Thing.” Her momentum continued as she brought her girl-power-punch to Live Oak Music Festival and opened for a date on LISSIE’s US tour. All of this led to DASHA signing with Quadio Records, an independent label based in New York City that champions the next generation of recording artists.
