FOLK-POP SINGER-SONGWRITER GENEVIÈVE RACETTE’S THIRD FULL-LENGTH ALBUM ‘SATELLITE’ RELEASED TODAY

(Friday, March 18, 2022 – Canada) Today, Canadian Folk Music Award Winner Geneviève Racette released her third studio album, Satellite, as she continues on her tour throughout Quebec, including a hometown album release show at Cafe Campus, Montreal this Monday and eventually landing in Kansas City for an official showcase at Folk Alliance International. Satellite can be streamed on your favourite platform here.

Adding to an ever-developing and highly-praised bilingual catalog, Satellite is a 9-song collection of folk-pop tracks delivering honest stories of self-discovery and reflection through the cycle of love. Filled with intimate vocals, lush instruments and expressive harmonies, the album evokes moments of love, heartbreak, healing, forgiveness and ultimately falling in love again.

“I think love is a beautiful thing. It’s just intriguing how no one actually knows how it works and what it’s made of. I’m pretty sure that’s the main reason why I write songs: I’m just trying to figure out what the heck love is,” explained Racette.

Earlier this week Geneviève celebrated the album at The Dakota Tavern in Toronto, with local singer-songwriter Jane Mathew opening the evening. “Her small band delivered just the right amount of hum, sting and echo to lift the live sounds into the zone of comfortable spaciness that the album conjures,” describes Roots Music Canada of the night. The crowd was surprised with a duet performance by Geneviève and City and Colour’s Dallas Green when they sang the track Someone together live for the first time. You can watch their performance here.

As a woman in music, it is essential to Geneviève that she surrounds herself with like-minded females in the industry. She is proud that over half her team involved in the creation of Satellite are female musicians and members of the industry. Geneviève co-produced Satellite with François-Pierre Lue (who also produced No Water, No Flowers) and collaborated on many songs with JUNO-nominated Barbra Lica, award-winning songwriter Danielle Knibbe and fellow Québécois singer-songwriter Éric Charland.

With over 2 million streams on Spotify, Canadian Folk Music Award winner Geneviève Racette has captivated listeners with her gentle, yet compelling, emotional resonance, and garnered impressive industry support for her folk-pop tracks ever since her first EP in 2014. Through her vulnerable lyricism and ethereal vocals, Geneviève has emerged as a rising star in both French and English-speaking Canadian music scenes and has headlined for hundreds of shows right across Canada and throughout the United States.
