(Tuesday, March 15, 2022 – Canada) This Friday, award-winning singer-songwriter Geneviève Racette will release her third studio album, Satellite, which she co-produced alongside François-Pierre Lue. Pre-save now or stream on your favourite platform on March 18 here.
Last night, Racette was welcomed by a packed house at The Dakota Tavern for her Toronto release party. The evening included a special appearance and duet on stage with City and Colour’s Dallas Green, who has proven to be very supportive since her 2019 cover of Hello, I’m in Delaware that was posted on Instagram, and had asked to sing on the track Someone off Satellite. Photos from The Dakota Tavern can be found here. The Satellite tour will continue through Quebec, with a hometown release show on March 21 at Cafe Campus in Montreal.
Adding to an ever-developing and highly-praised bilingual catalog, Satellite is a 9-song collection of folk-pop tracks delivering honest stories of self-discovery and reflection through the cycle of love. Filled with intimate vocals, lush instruments and expressive harmonies, the album evokes moments of love, heartbreak, healing, forgiveness and ultimately falling in love again.
“I think love is a beautiful thing. It’s just intriguing how no one actually knows how it works and what it’s made of. I’m pretty sure that’s the main reason why I write songs: I’m just trying to figure out what the heck love is,” explained Racette.
As a woman in music, it is essential to Geneviève that she surrounds herself with like-minded females in the industry. She is proud that over half her team involved in the creation of Satellite are female musicians and members of the industry. Geneviève co-produced Satellite with François-Pierre Lue (who also produced No Water, No Flowers) and collaborated on many songs with JUNO-nominated Barbra Lica, award-winning songwriter Danielle Knibbe and fellow Québécois singer-songwriter Éric Charland.
With over 2 million streams on Spotify, Canadian Folk Music Award winner Geneviève Racette has captivated listeners with her gentle, yet compelling, emotional resonance, and garnered impressive industry support for her folk-pop tracks ever since her first EP in 2014. Through her vulnerable lyricism and ethereal vocals, Geneviève has emerged as a rising star in both French and English-speaking Canadian music scenes and has headlined for hundreds of shows right across Canada and throughout the United States.
