Los Angeles, CA – September 2023 | Gritty In Pink brought out all the sk8r bois and girls with their All GRL Jam: Emo at the Gibson Showroom Los Angeles on Thursday, September 7 at 7 PM. It featured over 50+ women and non-binary artists, covering iconic Emo jams and anthems from Pan!c At The Disco, Ashlee Simpson, Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, and many more! The all-ages event was sponsored by Gibson, along with support from Gibson Gives, Women In Music, Tunecore, Owl’s Brew, El Cristiano Tequila, Waterloo Sparkling Water, Keep A Breast, Guitar Girl Magazine, Live Nation Women, Roland, and Gritty In Pink’s new talent hub to hire women in music, INPINK.
Emo Nite co-founder DJ Babs Szabo kicked off the night with anDJ set. At the same time, attendees had the opportunity to recieve professional headshots courtesy of the non-profit organization Women In Music. At the open bar, attendees also got to taste special El Cristiano Tequila and Waterloo Sparkling cocktails curated for the event.
Gritty ringleader Shiragirl opened up the Jam by introducing pop-punk band and co-host Xtine & The Reckless Hearts with an electric cover of “The Taste of Ink” and Atara Glazer took us back to the early oughts with “Thnks fr th Mmmrs” with help from alternative pop artist Jayelle on the BGV and pop-rock artist/guitarist Ariel Bellvalaire. Mia FluxXx crushed “Misery Business” with the assistance of Musical Director/guitarist Lisa Bianco, lead guitarist Aria Hurtado, and Chrissy Ras on the drums. Gritty newcomer Amanda Black (KissFlame) rallied the crowd during her performance of “CrushCrushCrush.” During Shiragirl’s performance of “Anthem of Our Dying Day,” the crowd pulled out their phones and lit up the room.
Other performance highlights of the evening were from the metaphysical Sterling Victorian (3Blackkids) slaying “Mr. Brightside”, singer/model Chel’s version of “Move Along,” fire-fueled performer BodaciousThang embodying “I Write Sins Not Tragedies”, and southern rock songstress Dani Hagan leading the crowd singalong during “Sugar, We’re Going Down.” The Jam also included performances from vocalists and band
Coyote Eyes, Ash Gordon, Jasmine Crowe, Alexa Rae, Aixa Vilar, Jasmine Day, Livi Dillion, Khadejhia Kassenbrock, Natalie Nova, Alex Windsor along with seasoned guitarist Kat Dyson, and many more! At the end of the night, Gritty In Pink announced Celinda Chang as the winner of their Gibson Artist Guitar Giveaway and finished with a rendition of My Chemical Romance’s “Helena” led by VK Lynne (The Spider Accomplice).
