Chicago-based one-woman industrial electronic artist, I Ya Toyah, has dropped a remix of her song hit single ‘Vast Spaces’ by The Joy Thieves, available on all streaming services this Friday, April 1. Fans will not be disappointed by this remix of her dark, dystopian, industrial goth banger, which also features Phil Owen from the legendary punk and industrial band, Skatenigs.
“When I received this remix from Dan, I was driving and I immediately blasted it in my car’s speakers. I was blown away by the massive wall of sound it hit me with,” says I Ya Toyah. “Then, it brought me to tears. In a million years I wouldn’t envision that someone would go to this extent to create a remix. I knew right away how much work it took. It speaks volumes. It speaks love.”
The original track was written, composed, and performed by I Ya Toyah, produced by I Ya Toyah and Nick Palazzo, and mixed and masted by Nick Palazzo at Evolution Recording. The remix by The Joy Thieves was mastered by James Scott at Populist Recording and Mastering with additional performances by Dan Milligan (live and programmed drums, keyboard programming, guitar), James Scott (bass guitar, rhythm guitar, lead and backing vocals), Dee J Nelson (lead guitar), and Phil Owen (backing vocals).
The Out of Order E.P. featuring the original “Vast Spaces” is available for streaming and download on bandcamp. Click here to purchase physical cds, vinyl records, and specific merch from I Ya Toyah’s fashion line.
