On October 2, Americana and country songstress Lockwood Barr anchored a live performance event hosted by Center Stage Magazine on their Facebook page that would amass over 58,700 views to take the #12 spot on Pollstar’s Live Stream chart for the week ending October 5, 2020. For an artist that American Songwriter quoted in a premiere of her latest single Helluva Habit as being “able to use her voice both in her daily life and in her music to fight for those who are struggling”, it’s that passion for a struggling live music industry that led Lockwood to design and produce a new four-week series called “Stories & Songs.” This project was inspired by Cheley Tackett, who started the drive-in concerts earlier in the summer. Joining forces with iconic radio host, songwriter and author Devon O’Day to build out “Stories & Songs,” this new series allows attendees to experience both live music and behind-the-scenes stories from the safety of their cars at Nashville Craft Distillery.
“Country Music has always so eloquently reflected the joy and hardships of everyday life, and the artists and songwriters who built this town are full of stories that often never see the light of day,” says Lockwood. “But, these stories are nonetheless a critical (and entertaining) part of what leads up to a song going #1 on the radio, or an artist making their Opry debut, which then, in turn, becomes an irreplaceable part of our cultural fabric. My goal when I sat down to start planning this four-week series was to create a platform for those stories, and a safe one at that. The design of these drive-in shows is outdoor, socially safe, supports a local business (We love you, Nashville Craft!), and offers true only-in-Nashville entertainment. Devon O’Day and Peter Cooper are seasoned masters in the art of interviewing, in addition to being incredible musicians in their own right. These are events where you can tailgate with families and friends without risking your health, and let the masters of Country Music awe you with their talent. I’m grateful to Cheley Tackett for starting this drive-in concept with Nashville Craft, and even more so for trusting me to build this new series.”
