March 10, 2023 (New York, NY) – UK rockers James and the Cold Gun today release their second “My Silhouette” from their upcoming self-titled album, out July 28, 2023, via Loosegroove Records. On the heels of the release, the band heads to Austin, TX to make their United States live-performance debut at SXSW playing two shows in one day on Thursday, March 16, at 6 pm and 11:59 pm (details below).
“My Silhouette” is a hard-hitting rock song that doesn’t let up. The no-frills track features the raw energy and angst listeners have come to expect from James and the Cold Gun.
Lead singer James Joseph says, “This song is a reminder not to compare myself to others, for comparison is the thief of joy. I was going through a period of time where I was really unhappy and the root cause of it was that I was focusing on comparing myself to others. It’s also the very first song we recorded ourselves in the garage where we rehearse.
The band’s previous single “Chewing Glass” was a fan favorite, gaining over 250K streams in just a few weeks.
Named after a Kate Bush deep-cut, James and the Cold Gun have been dubbed “South Wales’ Loudest” group. Stone Gossard discovered the band after hearing a track on KEXP Seattle w/Kevin Cole and immediately signed them.
“Stone ended up hearing this track and got in touch. He said he preferred the rawness of our recording.”
As Stone tells it, “I heard the track driving in my car on KEXP and was like, I have to find this band, I was already signing them on the fierce sound of the song. It was meant to be that we would work with the band via Loosegroove.”
James and the Cold Gun have quickly gained a well-deserved reputation for their live performances as well as their songs. They have shared the stage with Pearl Jam, Those Damn Crows, Dead Poet Society, Creeper, Church of Salem, and more.
