Megan Moroney tells Apple Music about the real-life dilemma that led to “Tennessee Orange”
“I’m a Georgia Bulldog, so we don’t … I’ve never put on an Alabama shirt, Auburn, no other school. I’ve never worn their shirt, because that’s just not a thing. And so I found myself in a Tennessee shirt. I looked in the mirror, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. My mom would literally kill me right now if she knew that I had on a Tennessee shirt.’ And so when I thought of that in that scenario, I was like, ‘Wait. What if I turn this into a love song?'”
Megan Moroney tells Apple Music about writing “Girl in the Mirror” with Jessie Jo Dillon and Matt Jenkins
“We just hit it off immediately, and we kind of talked about life and past relationships for like three hours. We ended up writing the song in 30 minutes because we had talked so much. But that song wasn’t even about a particular relationship, but it’s kind of like I do that when I get into a relationship, which is because I get into a relationship with the wrong people, and I think that I can fix them, which I can’t.”
