Paige King Johnson Pays Tribute To Her Grandfather With New Single “Grandpa’s Little Girl”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Singer-songwriter Paige King Johnson is excited to release her latest single, “Grandpa’s Little Girl” today! Paying tribute to her grandfather, Paige reminisces on old memories of her late “Papa,” taking every listener on a musical journey of her childhood, while highlighting the many ways he influenced her life. Written by Johnson and Mike Astrachan, “Grandpa’s Little Girl” was premiered by CCM Magazine along with an in-studio acoustic performance. Continuing to make her “Papa” proud, Johnson recently performed “Somebody’s Gotta Do It” on the Grand Ole Opry stage as a special guest of Grand Ole Opry member, Pam Tillis.

It kinda smells like too much Bath and Body Works sprayed on

Trying to impress a boy who ain’t ever gonna like me

It still sounds like our favorite country songs blaring through the speakers

Hours before a Friday night rivalry

It looks like sixteen driving away for the first time

Blowing Momma kisses out the window of the driver’s side

Waving goodbye

CHORUS

But most of all it still feels like you

Placing my hands on 10 and 2

While you’re helping my legs try to reach for the pedals so far away

10 years old is too young to drive

But it sure as hell ain’t the right time

To say goodbye to the man who made your world

I may be grown and you may be gone

But in this truck I’m still Grandpa’s little girl

“This song holds a lot of special childhood & teenage memories of mine in it,” shares Johnson. “My first truck was a 1997 F-150 – a hand-me-down truck from my Papa who passed away when I was ten years old. That truck meant a lot to me – it held a lot of memories of him & I in it when I was little. I was so grateful for it & am still grateful to have it in our family. Every time I look out on the farm & see it sitting there, I can’t help but smile & think of my Papa. I hope whoever listens to this song can find a little comfort in those sweet memories and maybe recall some of their own.”

Paige King Johnson’s previous single is a tribute to the 90s country music era she grew up with, proudly acknowledging Clay Walker as one of her biggest influences. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Walker’s hit “If I Could Make A Living,” written by Alan Jackson, Keith Stegall, and Roger Murrah, which was officially certified platinum on May 4, 1995. Johnson’s version of the song is now available on all streaming platforms and was premiered by Guitar Girl Magazine.

Johnson’s “Somebody’s Gotta Do It” was recently premiered by M Music & Musicians magazine and highlighted by RFD.
