Friday September 23, 2022 – On the heels of appearances at Bourbon & Beyond and Americanafest, rock and roll truth teller S.G. Goodman continues her buzzy year with her first ever headline tour, which will stop in NYC, DC, Boston, Philadelphia, and Chicago, in addition to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco, and Ohana Festival in Dana Point, CA. Goodman is touring in support of her critically acclaimed sophomore album Teeth Marks, which garnered praise from Pitchfork, The New York Times, NPR and many more. Visit sggoodman.net for more information and ticket details for her tour.

Goodman will also co-host an evening with Margo Price in Louisville on October 18 in support of Price’s new memoir.

Goodman today also released a special live performance video of her single “Keeper Of The Time,” directed by Ryan Hartley. Discussing the song, Goodman stated, “The keeper of the time is our body. This song is really important to me. It’s about how storing trauma in your body is going to be impactful on all of your relationships. I close the album with that because it’s maybe the root of it all. Maybe the root of all the bad and all the good is really what we have left unprocessed or the work we haven’t done within ourselves. This song for me is all about the aftermath of trauma, and I think of it as a response to my song “Space and Time.”

S.G. Goodman has been making waves, Teeth Marks appeared in the top 10 Americana Radio Charts, she guested on the beloved podcast WTF with Marc Maron and How Long Gone, her song “Space and Time” has been covered by Tyler Childers and will be featured in legendary filmmaker Paul Schrader’s upcoming film Master Gardener.

Raised in Western Kentucky on the Mississippi River Delta, in a strict church going family, Goodman went from singing in church three times a week to a prominent, politically active member of the Murray, KY indie rock scene. Her critically acclaimed Jim James produced debut, Old Time Feeling drew attention from The Fader, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, NPR, and PBS Newshour, and many more.

Mining garage rock, Appalachian folk and post-punk influence,  Goodman’s sophomore album Teeth Marks finds her stirring vocals and emotionally astute songwriting draped in a sonic patchwork of southern indie rock. Exploring her embodied trauma of coming out as gay to her Southern Baptist rural community, and the homophobic prejudice and ostracization, that has continued to follow her to this day.

She explores how this kind of trauma will log-jam in the body, alongside examining the opioid crisis, queer dating and unrequited love. Across all 11 tracks the central concept of the indelible mark that love leaves behind, is present. From lovingly confronting a self-destructive alcoholic friend, to confronting herself in the face of unrequited love. A landmark release from one of the most impassioned and idiosyncratic voices of this generation, it will cement her as one of the most exciting acts emerging from the South in many years.
