Shortly Reaps What They Sow on New Single “The Reaper”

Debut Album Dancer out September 24th via Triple Crown Records; Touring with Chloe Moriondo This Fall

New York, NY – August 13th, 2021 – Detroit’s Shortly (aka Alexandria Maniak) has released their vulnerable new single “The Reaper” today – STREAM HERE – the second track shared from the band’s debut album Dancer, due out on September 24th via Triple Crown Records.

“The Reaper” specifically serves as a temper tantrum and a checkpoint. It is about reaping what you sow when you project yourself onto the people around you. I take a lot of things for granted, and I’m angry with myself for it here. – Alexandria Maniak (she/they), Shortly

Shortly’s new track follows the announcement of Dancer and the release of lead single “Science,” which BrooklynVegan called “a tender, gorgeous dose of indie folk” while describing it as “a cross between Julien Baker and self-titled era Bon Iver.” UPROXX joined in on the excitement of Shortly’s long-awaited debut, dubbing Maniak one of “Michigan’s best songwriters.”

Dancer was produced by the band – Maniak with collaborators Austin Stawowczyk and Kris Herrmann – and longtime producer Joe Reinhart (Hop AlongBeach BunnySmidleyDiet Cig). Recorded at Headroom Studio in Philadelphia, the songs were developed from sketches on codependence, gender dysphoria, and the struggle to find a sense of belonging in the world.

Shortly’s debut album Dancer will be released on September 24th via Triple Crown Records and is available for pre-order HERE. New single “The Reaper” is out now and available to stream via all DSPs HERE.
