Sub*T, the gruesome twosome of Jade Alcantara and Grace Bennett, have come back for more with their second single, “Too Soon Too Long.”
A follow-up to their debut single, “Boxing Day,” “Too Soon Too Long” affirms the band as a force to be reckoned with. The track covers the unrelenting desire to be with the friends who complete you, especially if they are across the country. Grace Bennett sings the story of long-distance friendship while Jade Alcantara provides spunky backup vocals. The duo, who both wrote and produced the single, dedicate a love letter to their friends on top of tonally brilliant guitars, an addicting bassline, and drums that never let up. The collaged cover art, also created by Sub*T, depicts packed bags alongside windows of opportunity because as the girls sing, “Say the word and I’ll be coming to ya.”
“Jade actually said a line from the song in the car one day,” said Grace Bennett of Sub*T. “She said, ‘Our hair grows when we’re apart.’ I thought that would be a really great song lyric and captures the feeling of when you’re apart from your friends how much you can change when you feel so close to them, even if you’re 3,000 miles apart.”
“Too Soon Too Long” will be available on all streaming platforms on Friday, June 18th, 2021. Even though the song was written before the pandemic, “It’s perfect with the timing of everyone being able to safely see their friends and family again. It seemed like the perfect time to let this one out into the world,” commented Jade Alcantara of Sub*T. As their music reflects on their experiences, Sub*T faces a bright future of world domination. You can stay up to date with the girls on Instagram, @subtrules! If you don’t listen to the song, they might even write one about you. Or TP your house.
