TORONTO RECORDING ARTIST, SARAH SHAFEY, RELEASES ELECTRO-POP-ROCK SINGLE ‘I’M SICK’

AN OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO ACCOMPANIES THE SINGLE RELEASE TODAY

Saturday, September 30, 2023 Award-winning Canadian-Egyptian recording artist, Sarah Shafey, is excited to release her catchy pop-electronic single I’m Sick and the official music video. Stream I’m Sick now on your favourite streaming platforms.

Through her newest single I’m Sick, Sarah explores a tongue-in-cheek expression of battling a world that is constantly trying to mold artists into something they’re not. The fight between your ID, ego and superego. “I love pop music, but sometimes it becomes repetitive and feels manufactured,” Sarah explained, “this song is my way of having a bit of fun with that.”

In the official music video, shot by The Trenches Media and portray. All, viewers watch as Sarah transforms from a bubblegum pop princess to a darker alter ego, as she battles the stronghold of the machine, or industry if you will.

In 2022 Sarah Shafey released her fourth studio album Blackbox Universe, co-produced, co-engineered and co-mixed with Hill Kourkoutis; the first female to win a JUNO award in the Recording Engineer of the Year category (2022). Hill has produced for and played with some of Canada’s most notable artists including The Weeknd, July Talk, Serena Ryder, Madison Violet, SATE, Good Lovelies, Dear Rouge, Adam Cohen and more.

This genre-bending collection garnered her a Gold Award at the LIT Talent Music Awards, an award at the 2022 Artists Forum Competition in the Electronic/Dance category, “Spotlight Artist” at the 2023 California Music Video Awards, and her music video for “Sticks and Stones” is currently being played on PBS television stations across the US.

From her previous three albums and a decade-long history in the Toronto music scene, Sarah Shafey has been praised for her sophistication and professional production. She’s been described as powerful, influential and independent, with each release receiving rave reviews globally.

She has mixed for bands across genres in her studio Squeaky Clean Records which has helped her personal sound evolve over the past decade from piano folk-pop, to emotive alternative and grunge shoegaze rock, to the present with the pop, electronic, and rock vibe. Along with her powerhouse team, Shafey has created a transcendent soundscape with her music confirming her talent goes far beyond one specific genre.
