Here’s a bit more from Nicolette herself about the inspiration behind the song: “‘Love Like This’ was written about my boyfriend when we first started dating before college. I never wrote love songs until I started dating him. It was always heartbreak songs. But when he and I became long-distance for college, I also wanted to write about that. So that is why I mixed a love song and a little bit about long distance to show that relationships are possible, even if you are miles away. Love Like This is such a special song to me because never being treated right for years and finally being treated right by the right person is such a special thing to have in your life, even when you are long distance.
This single is such a special song to Nicolette. The singer-songwriter states that she was never treated the right way, and then when she finally met the right person, even when they were long distance, he treated her “right,” his actions inspired Nicolette to write this song.
