Nashville-based singer-songwriter Adara just released the music video for “Alien,” an anthem about prevailing over alienation and bullying, and discovering self-esteem.
“Alien” is “dedicated to the ones who feel like they don’t belong,” says Adara.
While growing up in Denver, Colorado, Adara began playing guitar and piano at an early age. By the time she was 12-years-old, she was composing original music, providing a creative outlet for her emotions. Later, she took part in choir and musical theater.
She attended Belmont University, where she expanded her knowledge of music and refined her songwriting skills. Deciding to focus on her music, she unexpectedly hooked up with Ross Lara, who ushered her into EDM. Her first collaboration was on Armada Records, followed by further collaborations leading to her signing with labels like Enhanced, Seeking Blue, Universal, and Sony. Hooking up with Adventure Club led to performing at Imagine Festival. Then her song, “Moments,” with MitiS went viral on YouTube, amassing more than five million plays.
Almost overnight, Adara was sharing the stage with Seven Lions, Illenium, and Price Royce. Artists such as Armin Van Buurren, The Chainsmokers, and Said the Sky praised her music. Working with SM Entertainment, she wrote songs for major Kpop artists. In 2017, her single “Oasis” accumulated 700,000+ streams on Spotify, whereas her music videos have collected more than 18 million views.
Adara’s goal is to be a role model for today’s disaffected young people, as she advocates self-empowerment, individuality, and self-love.
“Alien” opens on potent pulsing colors topped by Adara’s sumptuous evocative voice. The deep rhythmic thrum of the electro-pop melody resonates with muscular energy. Luminous swirling accents add depth and sonic dimension, filling the music with tantalizing textures.
Rich and crystalline, nuanced with velvety surfaces, Adara’s dynamic voice infuses the lyrics with dynamic timbres chockfull of intense haunting savors.
“Strangers, hey, we’re out of place / It makes my heart break / I know you feel the same / I, I, I’m just an alien / My heart beats in signals, a lonely satellite / They try to cut me open, underneath the lights / I really don’t belong here, do you know what it’s like? / I, I, I’m just an alien.”
The video, directed by Cooper Brown, in combination with the intoxicating music, deploys captivating visuals of maximum impact, revolving around emotional isolation and social ostracism.
“Alien” is excellent, riding a forceful infectious rhythm and throbbing harmonics flexing with muscle, all crowned by Adara’s dazzling voice.
