Emily Hearn Rolls into Atlanta on the Roll With It Tour 2015

Singer, songwriter Emily Hearn played to a standing room only crowd on a beautiful Thursday night at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, Georgia. Playing a venue like the famed Eddie’s Attic is like playing a hometown show, so to speak, for Emily. While currently residing in Athens, GA, Emily, originally from Griffin, GA, considers the Atlanta region home, with a solid local fan base that continues to grow nationally with each performance.

Emily recently released Hourglass via Old Prince Records and is currently on the “Roll With It Tour 2015” opening for Tyrone Wells. Emily took some time to chat with us in the Green Room at Eddie’s Attic prior to her sound check where she talked about the inspiration behind her recent album, musical inspirations, and the tour schedule. “The tour is going great so far,” says Emily. She’s enjoyed meeting many new fans after her performances and taking time to visit and enjoy new cities while driving cross country with her husband and band member, Michael Harrison. She tells us that the Pacific Northwest region was so far one of the most scenic on the tour, with her favorite town being Portland.

Her lovely melodies and sultry voice captured the audience immediately upon opening her set. She has a beautiful voice that is wonderful to hear. Her songwriting collaboration with her husband Michael on her new record Hourglass shows a maturity beyond her years and a romantic side that is refreshing to hear in music today.

As with all performances at Eddie’s Attic, the venue lends itself to a quaint, intimate setting within the listening room. The stage was set with Emily’s Gibson acoustic guitar, a kick-drum, and keyboard. Emily took the stage playing her acoustic and was accompanied by Michael on keys. On this tour, Emily tells us they are not traveling with the band and are performing a simple, acoustic set.

The set would not have been complete without a performance of the hit single from Hourglass titled “Volcano” which is a beautiful melodic song about heartbreak. Emily also played “Found a Heart” which has a video that included scenes and pictures from her wedding – it’s so romantic and would make a great wedding song.

Emily Hearn, along with husband Michael, performed an overall great performance and will continue touring throughout the Sping and Summer. If she comes to town near you, I highly recommend catching a live performance!
