Katie Knipp on new album ‘The Well’ out today: Who What Where When Why

Hailing from Northern California, Blues/Americana songstress Katie Knipp is a maverick bound to revolutionize the world of roots music with her distinctive voice and instrumental prowess. Her one-of-a-kind sound is the product of a diverse collection of influences, equally informed by New Orleans legends such as Dr. John, respected songwriters such as Lucinda Williams and Jason Isbell, and blues guitarists like Robert Johnson. She discovered her passion for music upon taking up the clarinet in grade school. Soon afterward, she began singing and playing piano, ultimately going on to earn a degree in vocal performance from Cal State Hayward. It was during her time in college that she began writing songs and teaching herself to play guitar. She now counts dobro among her favorite instruments to play. Today, Knipp has more than two decades of professional recording and gigging experience under her belt. Garnering recognition from the SAMMIE Awards and Country Folk Americana Blues Music Realm, the Billboard-charting artist’s career has been reaching new heights as of late. Her latest studio release “The Well,” out today, March 12, features contributions from Joan Osborne keyboardist Keith Cotton and Mick Martin.
