As seen in Guitar Girl Magazine Issue 20 – Summer 2022
About me:
My name is Ellen and I just turned 10 on June 1st. I’m a musician and I play the bass guitar. I’ve been playing for about two and a half years. I started in April 2020 when I was 8. I’m about to roll into 5th grade. I’m Armenian and my whole family (including cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and so on) were all born in Armenia, except me. I was born in Los Angeles; then at the age of 6, we moved to Las Vegas.
My Inspiration:
I don’t quite remember the true start of my inspiration, but it was one of the two. How I remember it is that I saw one of my dad’s basses. At that time, I was 7 and a half, and I didn’t know what a bass actually was; and I thought my dad’s bass was a guitar, so I wanted to try it out. My dad gave me the bass and told me it’s a bass and let me try it, so I did, and it was the start of my musical journey on bass. But my dad says that it was because we were all on the couch, and then my dad showed us the performance of Tal Wilkenfeld, so as I’m watching it got inspired. It’s one of those two.
My Gear:
I am endorsed by LK straps. I like the quality and size of the straps.
And the strings I use are DR strings, they come in different colors, and right now, I’m using green strings for my Music Man and red stings for my Bite Bass.
For my amp, I am an artist of Markbass Amps; the sound is very nice for my bass. I like it a lot.
But for my bass, I’m still not endorsed with any company yet. I have nine basses in total.
- Sterling Stingray by Music Man (short scale) with Alperious Pickguards. I just love the design of the pickguard.
- Bite Bass (short scale),
- Ibanez Mikro (short scale)
- Hofner Violin Bass,
- Aronson Custom P Bass
- Blbul 5 String Custom Fretless
- Mayones Cali-4 mini bass
- 1979 Guild
- Markbass JP bass.
