Jennifer Alvarado Releases New Single “Colorado”

Singer-songwriter Jennifer Alvarado introduces her new single, “Colorado,” which follows on the heels of her latest EP, Songbird: Part Two.

Songbird is a two-part collection of songs revealing the evolution of Alvarado’s sound from that of her earlier projects. Her sound blends elements of country, pop, and blues into lush, contagious sonic concoctions. Songbird: Part One was released in 2022; a year later Alvarado released Songbird: Part Two.

Splitting her time between North Carolina and Nashville, Alvardo’s music has amassed more than one million streams on Spotify. In 2015, she dropped her debut album, Hello Life, in 2015, a collection of 13 original Contemporary Christian songs.

In 2020, she returned to her country roots, releasing “I Break Things,” followed by 2021’s album, Playing with Fire.

Alvarado was named ’One to Watch’ by the Nashville Songwriters Association. She was named the ‘2021 Country Artist of the Year’ by Indie Star Radio. Her song “Curious” won Best Pop Song at the Indie Songwriting Awards in Winter 2022, while “Rock This Way” was named Best Pop Song and Best Overall Song by the Indie Songwriting Awards in Spring 2022.

Her duet “Starz Collide” with Canadian band, The Whythouse, was named Best Duet for the Summer 2022 Indie Songwriting Awards. “Catfish” won a World Songwriting Award for Best Modern Country Song and she was awarded Rampage Music Awards for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Album of the Year, and Single of the Year in 2023. Alvarado’s list of nominations and awards goes on and on.

“Colorado” rolls out on a soft, strumming guitar topped by Alvarado’s low, evocative voice. The bassline enters, followed by deliciously finessed percussion. Alvarado’s vocals, vaguely reminiscent of Judy Collins, only more vibrant and richer, imbue the lyrics with flavors of nostalgic melancholy. The balance and flow of the tune, at once shimmering and resonant, are bewitchingly magnetic.

Drenched in luscious harmonic layers of country-pop, highlighted by the beguiling voice of Jennifer Alvarado, “Colorado” is superb.
