Dionya Marie unveils the video for her new single, “Leavin’ It All Behind.” The song trades everyday stress for a night out on the town, where dancing and drinks offer a break from it all.
In the song, Dionya plays a feisty woman who gets cowboys to pay for her drinks, making their attempts to flirt work in her favor. The story is playful, but its point is simple: sometimes you need a little time away from your problems. Go out and have some fun.
“‘Leavin’ It All Behind’ was inspired by those nights when life feels overwhelming and you just need to forget the growing pile of bills, hit the dance floor, and use your charm to get some free drinks,” says Dionya.
A lively, bar-ready sound and an easy-to-remember chorus give “Leavin’ It All Behind” its spark. It adds a playful twist to Marie’s sound, which spans country, pop, and adult contemporary.
The new song arrives after more radio milestones for Marie. “Don’t Blame the Child” rose to No. 16 on the Mediabase Adult Contemporary chart and No. 3 among independent artists. An earlier country song, “Miss You So Mad,” made it to No. 23 at Mediabase AC and also drew notice from country radio.
Marie’s recording career began in 2018 with “Andale Yeehaw.” “Calm Down Karen” later took off on TikTok, drawing over 50 million plays, and reached No. 48 on the BDS/Billboard Top 40 Pop Indicator chart. “Hands” landed in the Adult Contemporary Top 20 and spent five straight weeks as that format’s top independent release. She scored another Top 20 AC entry with the holiday song “Missing You Underneath the Mistletoe.”

Mark Needham handled production and mixing, with Howie Weinberg mastering the recording. The players include Shannon Forest on drums, Craig Young on bass, Sol Littlefield on electric guitar, Mike Rojas on keyboards, and Ilya Toshinski on acoustic guitar. Christine Winslow sings backing vocals.
“Leavin’ It All Behind” opens on shimmering tones riding a mid-tempo rhythm. Gleaming guitars support Marie’s luscious pop-country vocals, giving the lyrics just the right amount of twang gilded with pop flair. The creamy flow of the melody radiates authentic warmth and infectious light-heartedness. An earworm chorus compels you to sing along at the top of your lungs.
“Picking me up a 4X4 / To drop me off at my door / Tomorrow say Sorry Lord / I’ll be back to being broke next week / But for now I’ll have another drink / I’m leavin it all behind.”
With “Leavin’ It All Behind,” singer-songwriter Dionya Marie delivers a thoroughly wonderful song with rare joie de vivre.
