Naomi Jane, a burgeoning musical sensation, is poised to make waves in 2024 via a cascade of new releases, witnessed by the unveiling of her new single/music video, “Pretty Boys,” a song personifying the adage ‘never judge a book by its cover.’
“Pretty Boys” follows on the heels of last year’s successful release of “Never Let Go” and “Why Not,” which collectively amassed over 360,000 streams on Spotify.
Naomi’s artistic journey has led her from the bright lights of New York to stages across California. She has graced the boards in numerous off-Broadway and regional musical theater productions, including her portrayal of Young Teddy Trager in the award-winning musical Aussie Song.
As a featured vocalist, Naomi has made her mark on iconic New York stages, including Feinstein’s 54 / Below, Green Room 42, Players Club NYC, the Sembrich Opera, and The Theater for a New City.
As an actor, Naomi made her television debut on PBS Kids with Monkey Monkey Music and left her mark in the award-winning series Assisted Living. She has also graced the silver screen, starring in the zombie apocalyptic classic, A Night with the Sheintops. In the late spring of 2024, Naomi assumes the role of Kathy in Singing in the Rain.
Classically trained as a mezzo-soprano, Naomi’s vocal range spans an impressive three octaves. Her voice has been compared to artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette, and Joni Mitchell. A multi-instrumentalist, Naomi plays guitar, ukulele, saxophone, violin, and piano.
“Pretty Boys” opens on low-slung plucking tones, followed by the entry of Naomi’s evocative vocals, narrating her experiences with good looking boys. The harmonics ramp up on the chorus, providing a matrix for Naomi to parade the range and gracefulness of her potently alluring voice.
“Why do pretty boys make girls cry / Making us believe all their lies / They’ll shit on all our expectations / Poorly educated / Perfect simulations / Why do pretty boys make girls cry /Just because you’re cute doesn’t mean that you’re not gross inside.”
With “Pretty Boys,” Naomi Jane reveals not only her gift for songwriting, but the grand eloquence of her dynamic voice.
