Eventide’s Rotary Mod Plug-in Delivers Swirly Leslie Cab Modulation

Little Ferry, NJ, May 19, 2020 – Eventide announces the release of Rotary Mod, a digitalization of the iconic Leslie electro-mechanical rotating horn and baffle speaker cabinets that became integral to the sound of Hammond organs. The plug-in, available for Mac, PC and iOS, produces a pulse-like vibrato effect varying with the modeled speed of rotation. Rotary offers precise control to dial in the exact amount of movement you need. This classic swirly effect has been used on countless hit records to drastically transform guitars, bass, synths and even vocals. Notably used by The Beatles, Beach Boys, The Band, Cream and Pink Floyd, this iconic emulation brings that classic ’60s whirling modulation bliss into the 21st century on a laptop or the palm of a hand.

Rotary Mod offers the full range of control and sounds expected from a physical Leslie cabinet, then extends the possibilities beyond the hardware capabilities. Users can change the speed of the rotor and horn independently and adjust the mix of the two to produce pulsing effects and special vibratos. Sound options can be further extended by adding frequency modulation to the rotor and horn speed using a secondary LFO with a selectable modulation source. Virtual cabinet size is selectable between Standard or Giant to alter the sweetness of the resulting tone, and the Hicut control allows further sound sculping. The rotation effect can be sync’ed to a song’s BPM with the Tap Tempo function. Eventide’s dynamic and fluid Ribbon control lets users sweep Rotary Mod’s effect between two completely different settings of any combination of controls. A host of available presets allows easy configuration of parameters, with preset selection facilitated by the Mix Lock function that keeps the wet-dry mix constant while auditioning presets.

Rotary Mod for Mac and PC supports VST, AAX, and AU plug-in protocols for compatibility with every DAW. Priced at an MSRP of $99, MicroPitch is available for an introductory price of $39 through May 31. The iOS version of Rotary Mod is currently priced at $7.99.
