Guitar Girl Magazine is proud to premiere the brand-new music video from genre-defying singer-songwriter, filmmaker, and healer Aviana And The Pure Root. Titled “Through His Eyes,” the video is the first chapter in her Love Spells visual EP trilogy — a stirring exploration of soul connection, memory, and divine timing through a spiritual and Black femme lens.
Blending reggae, afrobeat, and soul with ethereal storytelling, “Through His Eyes” is an evocative meditation on past-life love and the profound pull of remembrance. Co-produced by Aviana and WhoisTimothy, the track wraps listeners in vibrant warmth while telling a story that’s both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Shot against the golden backdrop of Solstice Canyon in Malibu, California, and directed by Trevan Meador, the video follows a woman who experiences an emotional awakening after making eye contact with a man who feels hauntingly familiar — a recognition that transcends time. The chemistry between Aviana and co-star Aaron Williams is magnetic, unfolding through subtle movement and expressive visuals that elevate the concept of karmic romance.
This song and video are about that moment when you feel like you’ve loved someone before—from another lifetime if not more than one,” says Aviana. “It’s about memory, healing, and awakening to this idea that some of our lovers are here to remind us of who we really are.
Adding to the magic is fluid choreography by LA-based dance creative Frantz Marceus. Known for centering her guitar in past performances, Aviana’s embrace of movement marks an exciting new artistic layer, one that exudes sensuality and softness while maintaining her spiritual edge.

“Through His Eyes” is the first offering from Love Spells, a 3-part visual EP releasing throughout the summer. The project weaves together alternative rock, soul, and storytelling to offer a counter-narrative to mainstream portrayals of Black romantic love, one centered not on conflict, but on joy, purpose, and spiritual connection.
