French Canadian singer-songwriter BEYRIES has continued to draw in listeners with her melodic storytelling and unceasing commitment to songcraft. This fall, she will embark on a US tour in support of her latest album Encounter, inviting fans to experience her captivating live performance including fan-favourite “Over Me“. Her refined, earnest sound has already enraptured audiences at home and is destined to keep growing abroad.
From her first concert – a trial by fire performance opening for Martha Wainwright – audiences were drawn to her openness and her ability to captivate audiences with just her voice and an acoustic guitar. She performed without sequencers or backing tracks, wanting to speed up or slow down and connect with the audience in a natural way. These were songs that she had kept private for so long that when they were finally brought to light, they inevitably took on a life of their own. BEYRIES became a sensation in her home province of Quebec simply by being herself. Composed entirely on her family piano and brought to life with lush instrumentation, her latest album Encounter (released on Bonsound in November 2020) expands upon her craftswoman approach to songwriting and creates a genuine narrative you can hear and feel. With its dynamic range in instrumentation and BEYRIES’ ability to sing in both French and English, this album offers listeners a broad and unique spectrum of emotional expression, embodying strength while showing her vulnerability. Following Encounter, BEYRIES released a moving, stripped-down cover of the Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody”, which was featured in a recent episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
In a few short years, BEYRIES went from having never performed live to playing over 150 concerts around the world and connecting with fans in Istanbul, London, Paris and Los Angeles and most recently a headlining appearance at the Montreal Jazz Fest 2021 last month. Be sure to catch her enchanting live show this November.
