Carlie Hanson Releases New Single and Video “Stealing All My Friends”

June 26, 2020 (Los Angeles, CA) – 20-year-old alt-pop phenom Carlie Hanson has just released her second new track of the year. “Stealing All My Friends” is a mature, honest song about Carlie’s experience seeing friends and idols suffer from substance abuse. Backed largely by an acoustic guitar and minimal drums, the young singer opens up on the downtempo track. The song is released with an accompanying music video that takes inspiration from Blink 182’s video for their hit, Adam’s Song, and the stark frankness of HBO’s show Euphoria.

“Since the passing of two of my favorite artists, Lil Peep and Mac Miller, I have wanted to write a tribute song to both of them. When I first sat down to actually write ‘Stealing All My Friends,’ it became something bigger, deeper, and more personal. We all have somebody in our lives who has struggled with or been affected by drug addiction in some way,” Hanson said. “Some are strong enough to overcome it and some, unfortunately, are not. I have seen firsthand what drugs can do to a person and it is not pretty, but it is real and something that I felt needed to be talked about.”

Carlie will be performing the track on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’s #PlayAtHome series on Wednesday, July 1 accompanied by her “socially distanced” bandmates coming to you from Los Angeles, CA.

Carlie, who is the face of DC Shoes’ Summer 2020 women’s campaign, released her debut EP, JUNK, in June 2019.  Before even turning 19, she had toured with TROYE SIVAN, Yungblud and others both in the US and Europe, signed a deal with Warner Records and released JUNK. Named a VEVO DSCVR artist and dubbed a “master of pop bops” by Esquire, Carlie also has fans in superstars like Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato. She has also passed 86 million total global streams with her music. Late last year, she released “Side Effects” which is climbing up the streaming charts while her other track “Daze Inn,” was dubbed a “fantastic pop anthem” by the U.K.’s Gay Times. “Stealing All My Friends” is Carlie’s third new single since Junk.
