May 21, 2021 (Austin, TX) – Singer/songwriter/Guitarist, Emily Wolfe today releases her powerful new song, “No Man”, the most recent single from her buzzing and highly anticipated LP, Outlier, due on June 25, 2021. Pre-save, pre-add, or pre-order the new album here: https://orcd.co/outlier.
American Songwriter exclusively premiered “No Man”: “…genre-fluidity is still apparent in her artistry. The concept of “No Man” began as a Blues song, but as anger reared its head, “No Man” evolved into a transcendent rock track, leaning into electronic influences to better tell her story.”
“No Man” is an anthem for those who feel held down. With the hook declaring, “I don’t need no man,” Emily empowers her listeners to make strides in their quest for independence. This expression of freedom is backed by a stomp and clap beat, which gives the song’s intense lyrics a hefty soundtrack. Emily’s trademark gritty guitar solo displays her talent with the instrument and showcases the range of musical influences in her writing.
The lyric video, also out today, displays the lyrics for “No Man” on various signs and imagery in a dark and gritty cityscape. The environment of the video pairs perfectly with the song, as they both bring a sense of urgency and strength within the listener.
Emily performed a raw live version of “No Man” for Epiphone in March as the company released the Emily Wolfe Sheraton Stealth, her signature guitar.
Atwood Magazine, an early supporter of her first single “Something Better” said, “Emily Wolfe casts this emotion over a pensive, introspective verse and dramatically expressive, dazzling chorus. Her passionate performance is nothing short of explosive as she holds the ends of each line, sharing those same philosophical questions that find their way to all of our minds eventually.”
The 10 original songs that will makeup Outlier explores Emily’s diversity in songwriting and guitar playing. Produced and Co-Written by Michael Shuman of Queens of the Stone Age and Mini Mansions, the resulting body of work finds Wolfe upending the conventions of multiple genres, including rock and pop, ultimately arriving at a guitar-drenched sound that’s wildly unpredictable and immediately magnetic.
