Los Angeles, CA | JANUARY 2023 – Gritty In Pink kicked off their first co-hosted event of the new year with Hunnypot on MLK Jr Day this past Monday. Featuring all-girl punk band Shiragirl, soulful rising star MegaGoneFree, the electric BodaciousThang, hybrid rock band Glitter Trash, and DJ Hot Tub Johnnie. The female-fronted line-up started the night off with a live interview for the Hunnypot Live podcast, where each of the women spoke about their music, the adversities they’ve faced, and much more!
BodaciousThang started off the live music and got the crowd going with a mash-up performance of original songs and Micheal Jackson’s “They Don’t Really Care About Us.” Glitter Trash engaged with the audience as they jumped the stage and threw glitter on the crowd during their performance. Shiragirl powered through a punk set and finished off with a cover of Taylor Swift’s “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things.” MegaGoneFree was a crowd pleaser with her hit single “Talking Bout Bri” alongside an all-female lineup including prominent guitarist Angie Swan. Shiragirl drummer, Raine Palladino played the whole night away with a second set for Mega.
Many musicians that performed at the event were hired off of Gritty In Pink’s online marketplace INPINK. Finally, the night ended with a full-blown dance party! LB/OC Women Rising also tabled the event as they gear up for their women’s march in support of Roe v. Wade this Sunday.
Gritty In Pink alum Shiragirl, MegaGoneFree, DJ Vashonda Sherra, and more are set to perform at the ‘Bigger Than Roe’ fundraising event in Venice, California this Sunday, January 22. The event proceeds will go to the Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project — WRRAP is the largest national, independent, nonprofit abortion fund. They provide urgently-needed financial assistance nationwide to individuals seeking abortion services or emergency contraception. Learn more at wrrap.org or @wrrapreprojustice on Instagram.
