Jordi Polycarpe Announces New Single “Think About (Me)” Out 5/13

[NEW YORK — Apr. 4, 2022] NYC native Jordi Polycarpe is set to release her new single “Think About (Me)” on Friday, May 13th — click here to listen. Although the date might seem ominous, this is the day of the soon-to-be University of Miami alumna’s graduation, and she isn’t letting anything block her blessings. Since the unveiling of her EP JONAH last January 2021, she’s been featured in VoyageMIA magazine, nominated for a collegiate NAACP Image Award for Entertainer of the Year, and is set to perform at ENCORE sponsored by the City of Coral Gables on Thursday, April 7th. With 1.5 years since the EP’s release, this newest and highly anticipated gem is the first of many songs finally being let out of the vault, with more to come this summer.

The song features warm, light vocals, moody basslines, and cinematic synths to rival Lucky Daye, Hiatus Kaiyote, & Robert Glasper. Hopeful, mellow, and bittersweet, “Think About (Me)” details what you might lose, or choose to let go, when you’re on the cusp of finding yourself. “I love to love and to be loved, but there’s only so much you can give before your priorities start slipping,” says the Queens-born songstress. “I’m not at the point in my life where I can give that to someone; I’m young, and ambitious, and I’m still learning how to love myself. I’m only thinking about me, at least for now.”

Written on Valentine’s Day of 2020 and recorded throughout the pandemic with other U Miami alums, this song has been a long time coming — After a bout of hard discussions with her song collaborators in the wake of the 2020 election, Jordi’s goal was to make sure her voice rang true for black women, queer youth, immigrants, and anyone who had been marginalized by the previous presidential administration. “For me, it’s about not being afraid to take up space, to show people exactly what you will and won’t stand for.”

Jordi Polycarpe is a first-generation Haitian-American singer-songwriter and producer. At just 21 years old, soon to be 22 on 5/20, she’s been a creative for over a decade, songwriting since the age of 8. Jordi’s soundscape includes an eclectic mix of alternative R&B, indie rock, and Caribbean pop. Her layered vocals, rhythmic guitars, and vulnerable lyrics strive to let listeners into her world — and learn more about themselves in the process.
