New York, NY (June 28, 2018) – Lauren Balthrop is one-third of the girl-group doo-wop trio the Bandana Splits and also performed under the name Dear Georgiana. In the last few years, she’s served as a backing vocalist for Bob Weir, Kevin Morby, Benjamin Booker and Elizabeth & The Catapult, to name a few.
Alabama grown, New York tested, and Nashville planted – Balthrop quiets even the loudest room. Lauren will release her debut album, This Time Around, on Sept 21 and today premieres the video for “Don’t Ever Forget” with AudioFemme — out tomorrow via all streaming platforms.
Lauren says the track was inspired by Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” after having many an enchanted day and pondering how fleeting they are.
“Since the song is about living in nostalgia and rose-colored memories,” says Lauren, “I loved this old footage of lovers and dancing to serve as imagery for beautiful faded memories of perfect days and passed love.”

This Time Around was produced by Josh Kaufman (Bob Weir, The National, Craig Finn) and chronicles the story of an uprooted soul. Feeling spun out of orbit, tumbling, accidents, and loss of control are recurring themes yet Balthrop finds solace in the chaos of love. Each track on the album oscillates between the moodiness of experimental dark folk instrumentation and the levity of Balthrop’s crystal-fueled voice.
