November 12, 2020-Maren Morris won a leading three honours at last night’s 54th Annual CMA Awards: Female Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year and Song of the Year for her hit “The Bones.” The wins follow last year’s Album of the Year win for GIRL. Furthermore, Maren will finish off 2020 with a live-streamed show at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville on December 4 and a performance on CBS’ “Play On Celebrating the Power of Music to Make Change” benefit concert on December 5. She will also be honoured with the crossover award in Variety’s fourth annual Hitmakers issue and will receive the Nashville Symphony’s Harmony Award at the Symphony Ball on December 12.
Last month, Maren debuted “Better Than We Found It,” a protest song in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. The song arrived alongside a video spotlighting police brutality, discrimination and harassment among Nashville locals and ends with a letter Maren wrote to her infant son, Hayes. A portion of proceeds are being donated to the Black Women?s Health Imperative, the first nonprofit organization created by Black women to help protect and advance the health and wellness of Black women and girls.
Maren, the 2020 ACM Awards Female Artist of the Year, released her record-shattering second album GIRL in 2019. In 2020, GIRL single “The Bones” has been certified triple Platinum and spent many weeks atop radio charts. She won Top Country Female Artist at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, where she was also nominated for three other awards and was nominated for two awards at the 2020 CMT Music Awards.
